Australian Scrap Tyre Disposals has been involved in the legal disposal of scrap tyres in Queensland since 1991. During these years there has been significant improvement in tyre disposal technology.
Initially tyres were collected from retailers and delivered direct to licensed landfills where they were buried whole with no regard for recycling. The operation today is significantly more advanced. All tyres or used casings are collected from retailers and are firstly inspected for their suitability for reuse in the second hand market, if these casings have insufficient tread they are sorted for retreadability and are sold to retreaders.
After all usable casings are removed, the tyres are further sorted for secondary recycling.

However there are few man-made things more durable than a tyre.
A resilient mixture of fabric, steel, carbon black and several different
types of natural and synthetic rubber, tyres carry us to work, school or
play across our country - safely.
All of the characteristics that make tyres invaluable create a
special challenge. What do you do when tyres wear out?
The fact is, making a tyre is like baking a cake - it's a one way process.
The sulfur and carbon in rubber, like flour and sugar in a cake, are
bonded together and inseperable, which makes tyre recycling almost impossible.
We are proud to be involved with the two leading Queensland tyre recyclers
or whole tyre derived crumb rubber manufactures
Recycled Technology Industries & Chip Tyre
These crumb rubber manufacturers require specific tyre feed stock to meet
their needs on a daily basis. Our mission is to distribute tyre stock as required.
We believe these are the best options as this satisfies all the requirements
of the parties
We are active members of the Queensland Motor traders Association and the
Queensland Tyre Dealers and Retreaders Association.
The alternative to the above true recycling is to shred and dump to landfill,
although this is the cheapest method and is still legal in some states, it
should only be used as a last resort.
